We're Tom and Rosamund Jordan and we believe there has never been a better time than now to invest in the work of established artists. An uncertain stock market, plummeting house prices, and the lowest interest rate since the 1930s combine encourage the search for alternative investments. We are certainly continuing to invest heavily in our stock - plus buying some pictures for pure indulgent pleasure!.

We have chosen to spend our lives in the North East of England and divide our time between our house on the banks of the River Tees and our cottage by the sea in Staithes. We have always specialised in the work of Northern Impressionist artists who painted in the area a century ago, especially that of the Staithes Group (sometimes referred to as the Staithes School) and Impressionist members of Northumberland's Cullercoats Colony. American collectors mjght be interested in checking out the Winslow Homer connection.

Many of these artists trained in Paris at the height of the Impressionist movement and went on to attain great honours in the art world including being elected President of the Royal Cambrian Academy and being named Dame Commander of the British Empire. They exhibited briefly, first in Staithes and then in Whitby, as the Staithes Art Club, and individually in most major British public art galleries.Their work is in public collections world wide, although the only comprehensive public exhibition is in the Pannett Gallery, Whitby. Please don't be put off by the comparatively low level of their prices - as the work of these exceptional artists becomes more widely known it is steadily increasing in value. A more recent interest is the work of mining artists. These are miners who drew and studied part time while working underground and (in many cases during the aftermath of the Miners Strike) became full time professional artists. What separates them from most Social Realists is that they are Primary Source artists, painting from first hand experience a life they knew intimately and had experienced directly and emotionally. We believe the late Tom McGuinness is one of the best of these 'Pitmen Painters'. This is another group which is beginning to have its true place in British art recognised. We work from home by appointment, hold one day exhibitions in Staithes and stage longer exhibitions in Harrogate and Whitby. Our next Harrogate exhibition (the BIG one!) is in May 2009 (2nd-4th) We encourage collectors to visit the area which so attracted these great artists and experience its appeal for themselves. With this in mind we also run study days in Staithes itself and are prepared to lecture or arrange study days on the Group out of the area. Rosamund is on the NADFAS list of lecturers and also wrote the Staithes Group Centenary Caltalogue, now a standard reference work which details the lives and works of thirty four of the artists.

Our aim is to use our expertise to select the best works within our price range both from those which appear on the open market and those offered to us privately. This allows us to present both private and corporate clients with an exceptionally wide choice of pictures from within our narrow specialisms.

We strongly urge anyone interested in Impressionist art - regardless of their location - to look at these pictures as they still represent amazing value for their quality.
