We are always keen to buy etchings and mezzotints by Thomas Barrett. He was the 'Founding Father' of the Group, encouraging Laura Johnson and Harold Knight to visit the village and to paint there.

We only choose to by relatively early examples by Bowen, painted when he was still using a strong and undiluted pallette. |

I challenge anyone to find me ANY artist, from any period, who can paint sun and shadow on the landscape and wind and moving clouds as well as Arthur Friedenson did! (Tom won't be pleased with me for doing this, but their are advantages to his being a technophobe - he mightn't see my challenge!) |

Works from Harold Knight's Staithes period rarely come on the market. We are delighted to have four examples, two from one of his and Laura's visits to the artist's colony of Laren in Holland made while they were living in the little hamlet of Roxby on the moors above Staithes. It was in Laren that he and Laura became interested in painting interiors. |
 |
Unfortunately we have sold all our works by Laura Knight. We find it very hard to track down Staithes period examples of her work. Later in September you will, however, be able to see the last one we sold, a large watercolour of Staithes Bridge, in the Pannett Art Galley, Whitby. The Pannett has the only comprehensive permanent public collection of Staithes Group pictures in the world. |

For many years now when we have a particularly good Staithes Group painting we have felt that it would be good to share it. We started to publish limited edition prints which we normally show and sell only at our exhibitions and to clients who visit us or ask for them directly.
We now have a very good selection and I am starting to get them all on line. If you are unable to visit ourelves or our exhibitions, we will be happy to send them unframed in a tube. They are not available anywhere else - unless some have started to appear in the secondary market!
