Michael Fowler b. 1957
Professional Artist of the Year 2009

Michael Fowler was born in 1957 in the old West Riding and his roots have
remained in Yorkshire. He is predominantly a landscape and seascape artist who seeks to capture the transient mood, atmosphere and light in his compositions and is particularly inspired by subject matter which has intense light and deep shadows.

Recognition of his work first came in 1990 when his atmospheric game shooting scenes were highly commended at the BASC Wildlife Exhibition. The following year some of those paintings were published as limited edition prints by Sally Mitchell Fine Arts. Last year Michael won the Society for All Artists (SAA)
Professional Artist of the Year Award.

He works mainly in oils, both ‘plein air’ and in his studio, and his recent work has been exhibited at The Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Royal Institute of oil Painters and at the Mall Gallery in London.

Following the showcasing of his work at those exhibitions, Michael has been short listed for commissioned work by the Sultanate of Oman.
